Motivational Monday: Embrace the fearless child inside!

by Cory Dudley

Meet 8-year-old Sky. She's from Japan and came to LA to skate and surf :)

She's a self-taught little ripper. She goes big, she's brave, and she skates with the boys cause it pushes her limits.

Not only does Sky put a smile on your face. She's a reminder to follow your dreams- without fear of failure or judgment- to push your limits, fall, and get back up with a smile and know you're better than where you started!

Happy Monday! May this week bring joy and success!

Motivational Monday: Spread kindness this week!

by Christa Marsh

Sometimes a smile is all it takes to brighten someone's day.

A simple gesture to acknowledge one another keeps us connected. We live in a busy world and so many people feel overwhelmed. It's easy to get lost in our thoughts, what's on our phone, or playing through our ear buds. Unfortunately, we forget about the fellow jogger on the path or the person walking in the grocery aisle that could maybe use a smile, or a hello.

One of my favorite sayings that I always try to remember:

Meet Claire Lemmel! Claire noticed that people in her San Francisco neighborhood weren't connecting as they walked by each other on the streets. She decided to take action and walk the streets with her smile on a giant poster!

You're smiling aren't you? :)

Motivational Monday: Take a nap!

by Christa Marsh

No wonder you're feeling so sleepy. You had an hour of sleep stolen from you and are expected to go about life as normal... Well, worry not, it's National Napping Day!

Did you know napping for 20-30 minutes per day can improve your mood,

making you more alert and improving performance.

Napping is a powerful tool for self improvement!

Over 85% of mammals are polyphasic sleepers, meaning they take naps throughout the day. So what are we doing sleeping all at once...? Humans! It probably wasn't always this way.

Maybe our ancestors were happier, more well-rested people. Some of the greatest minds were skilled nappers. Churchill, JFK, Einstein, me:) - all big nappers!

Tell your boss or tell yourself, today is a special day - take a nap! You'll wake up with a whole new outlook on life!

Motivational Monday - How to Run 100 Miles

by Christa Marsh

Need a little motivation?

'You can do anything you dream up, as long as you put in the work and refuse to quit!' ~Brendan Leonard

This past Wednesday marked the start of the Christian tradition of Lent, on which people all over the globe give up foods or habits to demonstrate self-restraint. Many non-Christians also take part, making sacrifices and changing unproductive habits, making positive lifestyle adjustments...

Covered in a recent New York Times article, The Church of England challenged those observing Lent to avoid plastic consumer products for the 40-day period. We all know plastic is omnipresent in our daily lives and is a major environmental problem.

Could you give up plastic for a week, a month, the entire year? It's all about habits, right? It used to be difficult to remember to bring our reusable bags to the grocery store, but now, for many, it's just habit.

Here are a few Tips to Use Less Plastic.

Yes, it would be pretty hard to eliminate plastics all together, but if everyday we are more mindful of packaging, to-go containers, straws, etc..., we slowly change our habits and make a better planet for generations to come.

The South Koreans are known for dominating short track speed skating, but this comeback is beyond incredible!

The clutter of speed skating's short track relay makes it seem unfathomable that skaters can maneuver the tight track, while jostling for position and switching skaters and crazy speeds!

This race was the 3,000 meter, which is 27 laps - skaters can substitute anytime.

One of the South Koreans fell early in the race which gave the rest of the field a head start by over a half lap.

They trailed by a significant amount, but these women did not surrender! They showed grit, determination, power, strength, and calm in the storm and they did it!

Watch the amazing come back here!!

It's so much harder to stay hydrated in the winter! How many cups of tea can you drink through the day!

I try to motivate to hydrate by adding a little fresh lime juice and a pinch of salt to my water.

Healthline.com gives 7 science-based reasons why you need to keep the fluids coming!

Friends don't let friends get dehydrated!

MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY - JOURNEY TO THE MOUNTAIN LIFE, PART 3

by Cory Dudley

The San Juan mountains are a rugged range in southwest Colorado and northwest New Mexico. Towns like Telluride, Ouray, and Silverton are nestled among these beauties. The forests, rivers, peaks, geological diversity and varied landscapes make the San Juan mountains and national forest an absolute treasure and once you're there, you really don't want to leave!

Stio, a cool little clothing company out of Jackson Hole, Wyoming put together a sweet little video series called "A San Juan Story".  Here's the final of three videos in A San Juan Story, Road to the Mountain Life by Oliver Sutro. All it took was one ski season in Telluride and a new life in the Rocky Mountain West was born!
